Leonard Weather, Jr., R.Ph., M.D.

Dr. Weather hails from Utica, New York. He received a B.S. in Phamacy from Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington, DC, and his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his OB/Gyn residency and fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. After which he moved to New Orleans. He is married to Cynthia Montgomery Weather, M.D., who is also a gynecologist and obstetrician.

Dr. Weather is the director of Omni Fertility and Laser Institute and is the 111th president and immediate past president of The National Medical Association. He is a past Clinical Professor of Pharmacy at Xavier University in New Orleans, and member of Xavier University Research Centers in Minority Institution Advisory Council, and past National President of Chi Delta Mu Fraternity (Dentists, Pharmacists, Physicians, Podiatrists and Optometrists). He's also the past president of New Orleans Chapter of Chi Delta Mu Fraternity, the New Orleans Medical Association, Louisiana Medical Association, Northern Louisiana Medical Association and treasurer of Black Congress on Health, Law, and Economics. Moreover he has served as National Medical Association Region V, Chair and Trustee. He currently serves as President of the New Orleans Health Alliance and Co-Chair with the American Medical Association's past president of the more than 70 organization member - Commission to End Health Care Disparities.

Dr. Weather is a member of numerous Louisiana governor appointed medical and allied medical boards in the state of  Louisiana. He is also an innovator par excellence in laser surgery and an international lecturer on gynecology and laser surgery. He invented a  laparoscopy procedure called Optical Dissection Pelviscopy, which was presented at an international medical meeting in November 1999 in Las Vegas. Dr. Weather was honored as one of the "Best Doctors In The World," by Chi Delta Mu Medical Fraternity (1998 - 2000). Dr. Weather is also the author of "Why Can't We Have a Baby?" and numerous other articles on laser surgery and female disorders.

In addition, he is the former Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology of New Orleans General Hospital, Secretary and Treasurer of Medical Staff of Humana Hospital, Vice-Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital, and Clinical Instructor at Tulane University Medical School. Dr. Weather was a visiting Professor at the University of Ethiopia-College of Medicine, Department of OB/GYN, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Additionally he has lectured at numerous medical school on endometriosis, fibroids other female disorders and health disparities in the United States. He is also the editor of the eNewsletter - Dr. Weather Report, and writes a weekly health column for Trice Edney Wire News. In addition he serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Endometriosis Association

Dr. Weather is a civic leader, an ordained minister, former radio and TV talk show host of "Focus on New Orleans," and health educator. Some of his other major accomplishments include:
